Lavender

Lavender is a plant indigenous to the mountainous regions of Western Europe and the Mediterranean. When early travellers discovered the plant, it spread to other parts of the world rapidly due to its versatile properties that helped in both medicine and perfumery. Lavender reached India in the early 2000s to help combat the droughts and soil conditions in Kashmir and parts of Jammu. Lavenders quickly gained popularity in India due to its sweet, floral and woody scent. It was used in almost everything from soaps to perfumes, room fresheners to cosmetics and even medicines.

Lavender can help improve sleep, reduce blood pressure and heart rate, and soothe anxiety. It can also be used to combat headaches, migraines and fungal infections.
